Where to begin

I feel as if this commentary begins in the middle of the adventure. OR perhaps it is still the beginning and I just haven't gotten far enough along to realize it yet. All I know is that I feel compelled to make the journey. The catalyst came just about a year ago. It was not something that someone told me. It did not come from a book I read (well not really). It was a natural progression of events that delivered me to a point of magnificent change. Actually looking back each step has led to the next. Perhaps there was no actual starting point. But this is how life can be. When we are in the midst of the flow it is a continuous rhythm of actualities.

My main point of focus these days has been research in regards to our state of being as humans. Though I might proclaim that it's all about how we live on the planet I believe a large part of the puzzle involves consciousness and higher reality that we are not always in tune with. These things are difficult to express with mere words. So I probably will not delve in to that too much in this media. I believe that each of us has a personal journey to fulfill when it comes to matters of the spirit. Additionally I can see now how it is all interrelated. One movement impacts the other.

We ARE all connected. But why can't we see this?

I would also like to know that why is it when we are presented with unpleasant truths with the potential for improvement - we lash out or withdraw. Sometimes it feels like no matter how the information is delivered regarding factory farming, people are unable to open their hearts and minds. They feel threatened. I speculate that it is because, deep down... they know it is wrong.

This weekend my local news station covered a story about a mother duck and her ducklings . The mother duck was purposely struck down by a malicious driver who sped off. People were outraged at the horror of the scene. Yet a few months earlier the same station showed footage from inside Quality Eggs in Maine. A major supplier of New England of eggs. Why are people not outraged about the inhumane and cruel conditions that these creatures endure for their entire lives? Is it because we are so greedy to satisfy our taste buds -we forgo consideration in how we obtain our food? Has all human nobility been sacrificed for the mighty dollar and our insatiable guts? Or is it that we have been told by large agriculture that we NEED these things to live and we feel helpless to make better choices? I am still unsure. More observation and study is needed.

All I truly know is that there is a feeling deep down that times are changing. And we have a choice on how those changes will impact our species and the planet we belong to. For we do not own it.... we are part of it. We are connected to it.
